Mission

Open Arms recognizes that each child is a precious gift from God, which must be nurtured and taught in a manner pleasing to Him.  Our aim is to prepare children for Kindergarten by educating the whole child—mind, body, and spirit—through a variety of academic activities in a safe, Christian environment.

Open Arms CDC is an extension and mission of Church for All Nations, Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.   Our curriculum integrates biblical instruction and Christian lessons with academic lessons.

The Learning Experience

Early childhood years are the most formative and children learn through experience.  Open Arms provides a variety of learning activities and positive experiences for our students.

Our program includes individual exploration and discovery time when children are allowed to choose from several different activities—such as rice art and computer experience—as well as group activities, such as circle time, field trips, and games.  Through these experiences children are taught age appropriate academics.

Our teachers make learning the basics fun and exciting, while maintaining a structured learning environment.  We strive to maintain a positive, safe, and loving environment that builds children’s confidence and creativity, and reinforces appropriate behavior.

Playtime is very important for children.  Interactive play aids the development of motor skills, social skills, and communication skills.  On nice days, the children are taken to the park on 59th Street and 10th Avenue.  On not-so-nice days, they are allowed to use the classroom space and the sanctuary.

Meals and Rest Time

The children bring their own lunches and snacks and there is time set aside in the afternoon for a quiet rest.

Creativity and the Arts

Music, art, and dancing are a vital part of the Open Arms Curriculum.   The arts foster imagination and individual expression.  Music and dancing promote the growth of motor skills, listening skills, and cooperation.  Arts, crafts, building blocks, and toys encourage visual expression and creative play.
